no coincidences

the last few weeks i've been pretty bummed out. i've been trying to figure out what was missing in my life. my man friend suggested painting, then writing, then a website about herbal remedies based on scientific research. none of these things really made me feel complete.

it's winter so i'm not working, even though there is no snow on the ground here, and i've just been feeling lost. then two days ago, in a response to something entirely different, an old highschool friend of mine mentions a website called Ravelry. i'd never heard of it so i check it out. talk about by Design!!! it's a site for knitters and crocheters. i spent 4 hours looking at patterns and pics of what other people have made and it inspired me to pull the needles out of the closet and really get going.

oddly, three weeks ago i went to visit my best friend on the island and she had been given some really funky yarn and two bamboo needles. she made a scarf but didn't know how to finish it off so i showed her how to cast off. which inspired me to finish the mittens i had started last year for my son.

so it is all coming together. my brain is happy to be learning something, my fingers are happy to be busy, and my boy is gonna have lots of stuff to keep him warm next winter :)

so universe, you want me to make mittens and scarves, OK.

p.s. i'm still dancing, i'm still gardening, i still sing, and life is still good.

wow it's been a while

so since the last time i posted something we made just over 1000$ at the first screening of SERENITY and we made 1230$ and the second one a year later. I've moved twice and bought a house and drove across the country. i've been in love, i've been heart broken and i've survived it. it's been a long year and a half, but now i'm not sure where it all went!
i'm making baby quilts and bibs, i'm gardening, i'm raising my son, i'm writing everyday, i'm dancing, i'm singing, i'm making new friends. things are good.

help spread the word

Can you please publicize this coming event to your people. It is right
up your galaxy, I think.
_*
_*Serenity, the movie, will be shown on Saturday June 23rd 2007 at the Mayfair Theatre, 1074 Bank St., Ottawa, doors open 1:30, screening of the film at 2:00 pm. **__We have raffle and auction items and more, for our ticket holders!

This is a grassroots charitable benefit event that has spread in two
years to over 50 cities in 9 country and we who are organizing it hope
to raise well over $100,000 worldwide for Equality Now, an international
charity which supports and promotes freedom, health, education and
rights for women around the globe.

Joss Whedon, the Director, is best known for Buffy, the Vampire Slayer
and Angel, both extremely popular TV series. Firefly, his best series
yet, was canceled after only half a season, but the movie, Serenity,
has become a cult favorite.

The Ottawa movement, the annual revival (like Rocky Horror, only for a
good cause - Equality Now), the 'Shindig' to follow at the Georgetown
Pub are all organized by Fans/volunteers known as the Ottawa Browncoats (see link below)

The president of the Ottawa Browncoats is Sylvie Royer and she can be
reached for more information at sroyer@rogers.com. She is also available for
interviews about this project.

We would appreciate any publicity we can get for this, the _*First
Annual screening of Serenity, the movie*_, in Ottawa. Here are the

things and stuff

well, things are good work wise. i have expanded into the dark domain that is lawn care. i bought a mower last week (i think I'm in love :) it's fantastic!!) and i have started mowing lawns. i think this is a good step forward for the business but i hate mowing lawns. it's so boring. But, if i get a few more jobs then i will have enough to hire someone next year, even if only part time. that would be the best thing. then i can actually make some money. i might have to set up a new bank account for work. that's not a bad idea, then i can pay myself a salary. that would be kinda cool. help me do my taxes that for sure. ARRRG taxes. i still haven't done them. last year i didn't file until October i think. this year my goal is better organization.

i finished the design from the last post and i got two more design jobs!! that's were the money is, but it's not where the playing in the dirt is. what a hard decision. well the more i design the easier it gets, so that's good. it will give me something to do over the winter and maybe stop me from having to borrow money in march :/

personally things are annoying, but for me that is normal. since "he" moved out things have been a little lonely but the most trouble has been with the boy. he is having trouble at school in the weeks where we see "him" on the weekends. i wanted to stay friends but i think it is too hard on the boy. at least we don't fight anymore. it would be nice to have someone to share my good days (like last Friday) with, but that's what friends on the phone are for.
never underestimate friends. they can be SO understanding. "adult conversation please!!!!!"

march 1st

well i went to the tournament last Saturday, but i didn't compete. i didn't feel ready. actually i didn't even want to go , but my mom kicked me out of the house. she said that since i had made the arrangement for her to bbsit three weeks in advance she wasn't going to let me mope around the house. she took Alec skating. he was happy. there is another tournament in April sometime, but i don't know if i will go. i would love to have someone to fight with.

i signed up on one of those dating sites, but the whole instant family thing isn't very appealing to most men. it's kind of depressing. i was sooo blue last week i spent four days without leaving the house except to take Alec to and from the bus. i was so worried about Alec adjusting to not having Dede around that i didn't' bother thinking how i would feel. i feel much better now though. i decided that i wasn't going to let the winter get me so down. if i was blue in the summer - which happens from time to time - i would go out. So i took a nice long shower (after Alec went to school), i put on a little make-up and i went to get a cafe and a manicure at the mall. after that i went to get my mom Adan we went to the gym. that was last Thursday. since then i have been out skating the canal - 7.6 Km, recorded some songs for a CD, spent 5 more hours at the gym, and finished one of my designs. i feel good. the designs were really starting to bug me.

tomorrow I'm going to my mom's with my ipod to finish the second design. with any luck i will be working on installing these designs in TWO months. the back of winter was broken on Monday night. Tuesday morning was glorious. we will get a few more storms but then mother nature will win over father winter and the flowers will start. YEAH!!!

oh aparently at school today alec drew a picture of his family going bowling. we did that two weekends ago. he LOVED it. i love. we will be fine.
